CARAMEL APPLE CINAMON ROLLS 

 

Moist, gooey and delicious, that's exactly how I would describe cinnamon rolls. These yeasty bready rolls make the perfect snack, whether its for breakfast or that evening cup of tea/coffee .I personally love having mine smothered in a layer of icing 😛.The classic cinnamon rolls recipe has a filling of cinnamon and brown sugar, my version however takes it to a whole new level by adding caramelized apples to the filling mixture. Try out this recipe and experience the awesomeness that is cinnamon rolls.

Caramelized  apple cinnamon rolls recipe
Ingredients
1 3/4cups All Purpose Flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 packet instant yeast
1/2 cup warm milk
1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon oil
1 egg
For filling
2 apples diced into small cubes
1 tablespoon margarine/butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon

2 tablespoons margarine
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Procedure
1. In a bowl add all the dry ingredients ie. flour, sugar salt, yeast. Mix and set aside.
2. Place the milk and water in a saucepan and heat it up till warm, the mixture should be warm to the touch, not hot. Remove from heat and add the egg and oil, give it a good mix
3. pour the wet ingredients into the dry and start to mix, combine till firm dough is formed. Knead the dough for 10-15 min ,you will know the dough is ready when it springs back when pressed.
4. cover the dough with a towel and let it rest for 10 minutes.
5. Place another saucepan/sufuria on heat, add the butter and let it melt ,go ahead and add the diced apples, cinnamon and sugar. cook down the apples till they develop a caramel color and soft enough to mash, mash them up to form a thick paste and set aside to cool.
6.After the 10 minutes flour your working surface and place the dough ,roll it out into a rectangular shape. Spread the 2 tablespoons of butter then proceed to sprinkle the sugar cinnamon mixture. Lastly pour out the apple mash and spread it around.
7.Roll the dough into a log, cut the log into pieces, this should make around 8 pieces of cinnamon rolls
8.Place the cinnamon rolls onto an 8 inch greased baking tray and allow the dough to proof for 1 hour.
9. Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius, bake the risen cinnamon rolls for 15-20 min. Take them out of the oven allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving. 
Cinnamon rolls are best served warm, pour out some tea and enjoy 😉
